We are happy to publish two new special reviews:

Gambero Rosso, Vini d’Italia 2024

The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione ’19 is a special wine. Its aromas combine fruity, floral and spicy references, with a beautiful refreshing balsamic note. In the mouth, the sip is complex, savory and lively. The Chianti Classico ’21 is well made, with a pleasantly tasty drink.

Chianti Classico Gran Selezione ’19 – 5
Chianti Classico ’21 – 5
Chianti Classico Drugo Riserva ’19 – 6

Fattoria Santo Stefano, on the so-called right bank of Greve (though actually quite a way from the Greve River), is a patchwork of relatively cool sites bordering an expanse of uncultivated forest in Monti del Chianti. Surreally seductive strawberry and raspberry fruit has a carbonic tone, augmented by mushrooms, fresh ginger and brewer’s yeast. This energy relents on the palate, with ginger and quinine gradually giving way to raspberry cordial and marmite. Tannins are left feeling grainy and exposed once the delicate pillowiness of the front fades away.
