The magic of bottling wine

The magic of bottling wine dates back to ancient times and is a tradition which has been passed down from generation to generation. During the bottling phase, nothing is left to chance. Even weather and astral conditions play a fundamental role.

Wine bottling and weather conditions

In order for the wine to go from the barrel to the bottle without any trauma, the day chosen for bottling must be sunny, without a hint of wind and not too cold.

Wine bottling and astral conditions

Before the era of weather forecasting, farmers would rely on the sky! For bottling wine, their astral guide was the Moon.
The Moon and its phases (the First Quarter, the Full Moon and the Last Quarter) influence wine bottling.

  • During the First Quarter, sparkling wines are bottled
  • In the phase of the Full Moon, all types of wines are bottled
  • Older wines are bottled in the phase of the Last Quarter of the Moon

It is for this reason that wine bottling follows a specific moon calendar, and the best moment can be chosen for each type of wine.

Friday 5 June 2020, a Full Moon was expected over our valley and we took advantage of this to bottle some of our wines; The Drugo, whose qualities we discovered by tasting it with cherries, The Bianco Toscano and our beloved Sei Rose Rosè, the perfect wine for summer evenings.
